The goal of this project is to reintroduce the Caponacre Industrial Estate as a positive entity to the town of Cumnock and its neighbours through the rehabilitation of the industrial land through a staged process starting with the relocation (where still active) and removal of existing industry followed by the decontamination of the estate in order to pave the way for a number of environmentally and economically beneficial projects ranging from community gardens and woodland to Forestry Commission nursery tree planting. In tandem to this land rehabilitation the consolidation of both Cumnocks and Netherthirds boundaries will hopefully be achieved through the construction of new residences that will take full advantage of the natural environment provided along the clearly defined border of the new ecological area that caponacre will become through the implementation of community gardens, forest gardens and woodland.
