High Street Strategy

High Street, once at the centre of Glasgow, has found itself disconnected and acting as a boundary edge to the city. Due to the construction of the Motorway in the 1960s and the removal of architectural gems over time, this former heart has been torn up and cast aside from the city. To make this heart beat again, the arteries that have been cut must be reconnected. We aim to reconnect High Street as the centre of Glasgow.

This will be done by dealing with 4 strategic issues:

  • Historic Centre
  • The M8 Motorway
  • The North-South strategy
  • The South West strategy
