Have a look at this recent article of Roger Ebert on the Chicago Sun-Times. Interesting enough, Roger’s piece continues a series of writings from non-architects that have the power to reveal what architecture and urbanism is, should be, or is not. The list includes Jane Jacobs (“Death and Life of Great American Cities”), Tom Wolfe (“From Bauhaus to our House”), John Silber (“Architecture of the Absurd”) and a few others. Their contributions are essential, and it might be time for all of us to try understanding why.
